It has been a while since we have had a guitar from renowned Australian luthier Dan Kellaway and his latest concert classical is a beauty.
Dan has had a long association with the Guitar Factory Gladesville and we are pleased his guitars are having well deserved success overseas as well as here at home.
Sometimes described as a cross between a Simon Marty and a Greg Smallman, Dan builds arched backed lattice braced instruments but uses the same wood as the soundboard for the bracing as opposed to the more common carbon fibre reinforced balsa. The result is a "woodier" character with more traditional tone colours across the strings but with the evenness and sensitivity of lattice.
The Australian rosewood neck is is reinforced with an adjustable truss rod and has a precision "tilt" mechanism that allows the neck angle, and hence action, to be adjusted on the fly.
If you have been drawn to some of the attributes of modern latticed braced instruments but felt many lack character or colour, this latest guitar by Dan Kellaway may be the instrument for you.
-Carpathian spruce soundboard with Carpathian spruce lattice bracing.
-Arched redwood (Sequoia) back and redwood sides.
-Australian rosewood neck with adjustable truss rod and adjustable "tilt" mechanism.
-Ebony fingerboard.
-Handmade in Australia.
