Product Description

Used – Vintage / Professionally Restored

An exceptional piece of Gibson acoustic history, this Gibson Jumbo was made in 1935, placing it among the earliest examples of Gibson's now-iconic slope-shoulder large-body acoustic design.

When introduced, this body style was simply known as the Jumbo. What would later become recognised as the classic Gibson slope-shoulder dreadnought format was, at the time, Gibson's answer to the emerging demand for larger, more powerful flat-top acoustic guitars.

This genuine 1935 example has been professionally restored by respected Australian luthier Jeff Mallia, preserving an important vintage instrument while ensuring it remains a playable and enjoyable guitar.

Nearly a century of age has given this instrument the kind of mature, developed acoustic character that simply cannot be replicated by a new guitar. It has a powerful fundamental response with the dry, woody character, projection and dynamic sensitivity that make pre-war Gibson flat-tops so highly regarded.

As expected of an instrument from 1935, it displays considerable evidence of its age and history. The restoration and vintage wear form part of the story of this guitar rather than detracting from what it is: a rare surviving example from one of the most important periods in Gibson acoustic guitar development.

Professionally inspected and setup in-store following its restoration. The frets are serviceable with playing life remaining, and the truss rod is functioning correctly.

For the serious vintage acoustic player or collector, this is an opportunity to own an extraordinarily difficult-to-find pre-war Gibson Jumbo from 1935, restored by Jeff Mallia and ready to be played.

Includes hard case.
