The La Bella ASP-45103 Ian Martin Allison Signature Super Polished Bass Strings are a custom 5-string set developed to combine the punch of stainless steel round wounds with the smooth, buttery feel associated with flat wounds.

Based on La Bella’s original Super Polished formula, this signature set was adjusted to suit Ian Martin Allison’s broad requirements as a session and touring bassist. The gauges were changed, while a little more edge was retained on the outer wrap, giving the strings a tonal character that leans further towards a traditional round wound while maintaining the smooth Super Polished feel.

Built around flexible hex cores, the ASP-45103 set uses polished stainless steel round-wound construction and distinctive pink and grey silk wraps. The result is a versatile standard-tension set with a .045–.125 gauge range.

Installation Notes

Only the silk portion of each string should wrap around the tuning post. For through-body installation, ensure the 37-inch wound length is sufficient for the bass. La Bella advises against tugging or pulling on the strings to break them in, as this may cause breakage.
