Benson Stonk Box Fuzz
1960s Fuzz Spirit, Modern Precision
The Benson Stonk Box Fuzz takes the unmistakable voice of the classic 1960s MK1 fuzz and brings it into the modern era — with consistency, clarity, and character. Powered by Benson’s Automatic Thermal Bias technology, this germanium-driven circuit captures the raw, expressive sound of the original design while eliminating the temperature-related instability that plagued vintage fuzz units.
Automatic Thermal Bias Technology
Inside, a smart analog circuit gently warms the germanium transistors (2N404 or 2N527) to their optimal bias point, ensuring stable tone and gain no matter the room temperature. When powered on, the LED will change color as it warms up — amber while stabilizing, green when ready — keeping your fuzz consistent from freezing rehearsals to summer festival stages.
Expanded Tone Controls
The Stonk Box adds modern flexibility while honoring the MK1 layout:
-
TRIM: Pre-transistor gain control — from open and gritty to tight and aggressive.
-
FILTER: Adjusts gain and low-end response for dynamic tonal shaping.
-
TONE: Smooths or brightens the final output, acting like a tilt EQ for balance.
-
VOLUME: Massive output range, capable of driving your amp into glorious saturation.
Note: The Stonk Box is unapologetically wild — expect hiss, crackle, and pure vintage fuzz energy. That’s not a flaw; it’s part of its authentic, untamed character.
Modern Reliability
With a 9VDC Boss-style power supply (center negative) and no batteries, the Stonk Box draws under 100mA and is built to perform flawlessly. The circuit self-regulates bias temperature between freezing and 100°F, delivering stage-stable performance without tonal drift.
