The Keeley Dark Side Workstation combines fuzz, delay and modulation in one powerful multi-effects pedal, bringing together a broad range of vintage-inspired textures for everything from saturated leads and rhythmic echoes to swirling psychedelic modulation.

The analogue fuzz section is based around a 1977 op-amp-style fuzz, extensively voiced by Keeley to incorporate some of the character and nuance associated with earlier transistor designs. The result delivers rich sustain while retaining the underlying character of both single-coil and humbucker-equipped guitars.

The Delay/Modulation section can operate as either a multi-head tape-style delay or one of four modulation effects. The delay offers 12 syncopated rhythmic patterns with subtle filtering and modulation designed to capture the warmth and movement of vintage spinning-drum tape delays.

Switch to modulation and the Dark Side provides Flanger, Rotary, U-Vibe and Phaser effects. The sounds can also be blended, allowing combinations such as flanger with rotary or U-Vibe with phaser for textures that extend beyond the individual effects.

An expression pedal input provides real-time control over selected parameters, while newer Dark Side units feature a dedicated effect-order switch, allowing the fuzz and Delay/Modulation sections to be reordered without additional cabling.

At its heart, the Dark Side combines an analogue fuzz circuit with a high-quality 24-bit DSP engine, with the complete pedal hand assembled and soldered by Keeley.
