The Eventide Knife Drop Sub-Octave Fuzz is a collaboration between Eventide and Third Man Hardware, combining aggressive distortion, octave processing, an analogue-style synth voice and a resonant low-pass filter in a highly configurable effects pedal. It was developed around the unconventional tones associated with Jack White, with five onboard presets designed with White included.

At its core, Knife Drop blends three signal elements: the input signal, a monophonic analogue-style synth, and footswitch-controlled octaves. This combined signal is driven into an aggressive distortion circuit, creating everything from heavy sub-octave fuzz to synthetic, highly processed textures.

An ADSR-style envelope controls the cutoff frequency of the resonant low-pass filter, with adjustable Attack, Resonance and Cutoff. The filter can be positioned either before or after the distortion, significantly changing how the fuzz, synth and filtering interact. Attack time is adjustable from immediate response through to 1000ms, while a zero setting allows the cutoff to be swept manually.

Switchable upper and sub octaves provide another layer of tonal control, while the output level offers a wide -12dB to +9dB adjustment range. Five onboard Jack White presets provide ready-made sounds, with additional preset access available through MIDI or Eventide Control.

With mono or stereo input operation, stereo outputs, expression/Aux/MIDI connectivity and selectable guitar or line-level operation, Knife Drop is designed to integrate into both pedalboards and more advanced studio or performance setups.
