The Milkman x Benson “The Amp” brings the signature Benson tone to a portable, all-in-one amplifier solution. Designed for versatility, it combines the high-voltage tube preamp circuit of the Benson Monarch/Chimera with a Class D 100-watt power amp, offering enough volume and headroom for any performance or studio setup.

Key features include:

  • Gain Boost and Tube Overdrive Control for natural breakup

  • Spring Reverb (developed with Keeley Electronics) – footswitchable

  • Room Effect for direct recording or silent stages

  • Analog Cab Simulation for authentic mic’d cabinet tone

  • BASS and TREBLE controls from the Monarch/Chimera preamps – musical at every setting

  • Studio-quality line output, headphone out, pedal-level output, and universal power

Compact yet powerful, The Amp captures the warmth, clarity, and responsiveness Benson is known for — perfect for stage, studio, or travel.

Milkman and Benson have teamed up to create Benson The Amp, a convenient and portable solution for those wishing to achieve the Benson sound in a portable and versatile form factor.

At its core, Benson The Amp takes the high-voltage tube preamp circuit of the Monarch/Chimera amplifiers and couples it to a Class D 100-watt power amp, which boasts enough power for any situation. It includes built-in effects such as a gain boost, spring reverb, a “room” control, and an analog cab sim for direct recording or silent stages.

The BASS and TREBLE controls are from the Benson Chimera and Monarch preamps, known for sounding good and useful at every setting. There are no wrong places to put them — subtle adjustments can yield big differences in tonality and feel. They’ve been tuned to work for any guitar or instrument you choose to put through them.

The VOLUME control on Benson The Amp might break up sooner than you might be accustomed to. You can achieve natural tube breakup by setting VOLUME at higher settings and backing down the OUTPUT to normalize the level. If distortion isn’t desired, simply turn the VOLUME down and the OUTPUT up to compensate.

REVERB is a DSP spring reverb sound developed especially for Benson/Milkman by Keeley Electronics, and is foot-switchable on the top of the unit.

The ROOM effect gives life to direct recording or guitar on silent stages. It mimics the early reflections of an amp in a good-sounding room, adding realism and improving the feel of playing without a live speaker. Internal trim pots (behind the right wood side panel) adjust reflection time to create a slower slap-back effect. ROOM can also be sent through the speaker output if desired, and is heard from every output on The Amp.

The BOOST is a clean, op-amp-based signal boost before the tube preamp, capable of up to 24dB of boost. Use it to drive the 12AX7 tube stages harder for more natural saturation. The BOOST is also foot-switchable.

The CAB SIM on the rear panel (via XLR output) emulates a mic’d speaker cabinet for direct recording or silent use. Benson captured the response of their oversized 1x12 cabinet with a Ceramic 30 speaker, using an AEA N22 ribbon microphone, and recreated it in a no-latency analog circuit. CAB SIM can be bypassed with a rear toggle switch.

Benson The Amp also shares many features of The Amp series, including a studio-quality line output with cabinet simulation, pedal-level output, speaker output, headphone output, and universal power.
